Antwort von G-Star und Clean Clothes

G-Star schreibt:

This is to confirm that your message regarding the ongoing labour dispute at Fibre and Fabrics International (FFI) and Jeans Knit Pvt Ltd (JKPL) has been received.

As you can read from the Dutch and International Clean Clothes Campaign website we are aware of the fact that local labour rights organisations are still being restrained from speaking out on labour issues and we can assure you that we have done everything in our power to get these obstacles removed and we will continue to do so in the future. The CCC, the ICN and the Dutch government are informed about our efforts in this field. If in the end problems remain unsolved, we will not hesitate to stop working with FFI. In addition to quality and design, G-Star attaches great importance to the social aspects of production.

Through CCC and ICN we will keep you informed about the progress we make regarding this issue in the future.

Thank for your attention and with best regards,

G-Star

Kooperation???

So bleiben folgende Forderungen offen:
• To keep up the pressure on FFI/JKPL management and insist that they follow up on the jointly signed letter
• To join hands with other brands and MSIs instead of acting bilaterally• To (continue to) express your concern regarding the failure of FFI/JKPL to respect freedom of association and the right to expression
• To (continue to) call upon FFI/JKPL to immediately embark upon a process of mediated dialogue with the local trade union GATWU and other local labour rights organisations including NTUI, Cividep and Munnade
• To insist that this dialogue takes the form of a series of meetings to ensure follow up. A first meeting should have as objective the normalisation of the relations between FFI/JKPL and the labour rights organisations concerned.
The steps that are necessary to reach a situation of normalised relations should be laid down in detail in a protocol to be discussed at this meeting. The protocol is to be signed by the attending parties which should be witnessed and co-signed by an independent third party accepted by all.
